NO. These are the basic plans. SMDS can build a hosting plan around your personal needs.

Is there a setup fee?

All Accounts have at least 1 FTP account to the root of your Domain directory. If you can upload your own site, and get it set up, then No there is no setup fee. SMDS Offers Site Setup plans, and would charge according to the plan schedule if you would like to use this service

Do I need to enter my credit card details to sign up?

No. When you sign up, you will be contacted by one of our Agents, and/or you will be sent an invoice through Paypal, to pay for services. SMDS uses Paypal, because Paypal adds a layer of security for us and our customers.

What is hosting, and do I need it?

Hosting is a place to put your web site, where it will be accessible to the internet. Basically, your Domain is your address that points to the location of your web site. Hosting sets up that pointer to point to your web site, which is typically on the hard drive of a web server. Unless you own your own web server, you will need to host your site on someone else's web server. Hosting Providors like SMDS, have web servers that we maintain. We lease a part of the server to clients. this is providing Hosting for our customers

What are the real costs to having a website?

Your first cost is to have the site written. This can cost from $1,000.00 up into the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Once your site is written, you will need to host your site to make it available to the public. This can run as low as $8.00 a month and goes up depending on your needs

Every site requires maintenance. A lot of the maintenance can be done by you, but some of the more technical stuff should be handled by someone that knows what they are doing. A web site needs constant maintenance and SEO adjustments. this can run from $50.00 a month and up depending on your needs

Once a site is up and running the average maintenance on a small business website is about $400.00 a year
